Waiting on Wednesday: Wildthorn

Waiting on Wednesday recognizes that we as bookies pine for books. This post is about what I am impatiently waiting for right now. It was started by Jill at Breaking the Spine.

I can't tell you how thrilled I am about the Stateside September 6th release of Wildthorn by Jane Eagland. Occasionally I enjoy historical fiction & this is just perfect for my tastes.

They strip her naked, of everything—undo her whalebone corset, hook by hook. Locked away in Wildthorn Hall—a madhouse—they take her identity. She is now called Lucy Childs. She has no one; she has nothing. But, she is still seventeen—still Louisa Cosgrove, isn't she? Who has done this unthinkable deed? Louisa must free herself, in more ways than one, and muster up the courage to be her true self, all the while solving her own twisted mystery and falling into an unconventional love . . .
While I find the US cover a little more tame than the UK version, I am in love! It's such a haunting topic & a reality that, sadly, many day-dream-prone young women faced in such times. Louisa/Lucy seems like a compelling character. It will be interesting to see how she struggles to maintain her true identity & if she ever escapes.

What are you waiting on this week?
